Basic Information | |
Specificity | The antibody is specific for human podocalyxin. The epitope recognized by the antibody is located on the extracellular domain of podocalyxin.Podocalyxin, a sialoglycoprotein, is thought to be the major constituent of the glycocalyx of podocytes in the glomerulus (Bowman's capsule) in the kidneys. It is a member of the CD34 family of transmembrane sialomucins. |
Alternative Name | PC; PCLP-1; GCTM-2 antigen; Gp200; Podocalyxin-like protein 1; 3D3 |
UniProt | O00592 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/C mice with purified human podocalyxin-glutathione S-transferase (GST) fusion protein containing the intracellular, transmembrane, and a part of the extracellular domain of human PCLP. |
Application Notes | The antibody recognized rabbit PCLP1 in human renal cortical sections on immunofluorescence. The antibody detected PCLP by western blot analysis (Kershaw et al., 1997; PMID: 9188463). The antibody detected PCLP in HEV of tonsil by immunofluorescence analysis. The antibody immunoprecipitated PCLP from colon carcinoma cell lysate (Thomas et al., 2009; PMID: 19118161). |
