Specificity | The antibody binds progesterone and also has less affinity for 5β and 5α-dihydroprogesterone. Progesterone is an endogenous steroid and progestogen sex hormone involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryogenesis of humans and other species. |

Immunogen | This antibody is an affinity matured version of the parent antibody P15G12C12G11 and was isolated from an scFv library generated from wild type scFv P15G12C12G11 using overlap PCR via simultaneous saturation mutagenesis at positions L94, L95, L96 (CDR3L), H50, and H58 (CDR2H). |
Application Notes | The binding specificity of this antibody towards progesterone, 5β and 5α- dihydroprogesterone and determination of percentage cross reactivity was done using ELISA. It shows an increase in discrimination against 5β-DHP and 5α-DHP, 23-fold and 15-fold, respectively, compared with the parent antibody (PMID: 15878862). |
