BK-1/39
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody recognises biotin (vitamin B7). It is a water-soluble vitamin which serves as a cofactor of important metabolic enzymes involved in processing of carbohydrates, lipids and amino acids as well as carbon dioxide transport.
Alternative Names
vitamin B7; vitamin H; coenzyme R
UniProt
Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunising mice with biotin conjugated to keyhole limpet haemocyanin.
Application Notes
This monoclonal antibody can be used to detect biotinylated proteins and antibodies, particularly if signal amplification is desired. For instance, PE-conjugated BK-1/39 antibody was used to target biotinylated anti-Ig beta antibody in a flow cytometric analysis (Levit-Zerdoun et al., 2016). This antibody was also successfully utilised in the chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) of biotinylated sense or antisense strands of the saRNA duplex (Wu et al., 2016). BK-1/39 was used in in situ hybridisation as well; it detected biotinylated RNA probe complementary to the Epstein-Barr virus genome (de Lima et al., 2012).
