Specificity
This antibody recognizes human and mouse beta dystroglycan (β-DAG). Beta-dystroglycan is a transmembrane protein that plays an important role in connecting the extracellular matrix to the cytoskeleton. It plays an important role in linking dystrophin to the laminin-binding alpha-dystroglycan. It acts as a cell adhesion receptor in both muscle and non-muscle tissues. It also functions in cell adhesion- mediated signaling and implicated in cell polarity.
Alternative Names

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with a mixture of transfected HEK 293 cells expressing human and mouse β-DAG.
Application Notes
The binding specificity of this antibody to human and mouse beta dystroglycan expressed on the surface of CHO cells was confirmed using ELISA and flow cytometry. The binding affinity of the original IgG antibody to human beta dystroglycan was determined to be 941 pM. This antibody was used in combination with anti-Laminin antibody PL60B3 for the generation of a bispecific antibody (CN113651891).
