Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunising mice with human milk fat globule membrane
Application Notes
The binding specificity of this antibody for HMFGM has been confirmed in ELISA analysis (Aboud-Pirak et al, 1988). Once bound to its antigen on the plasma membrane of human breast carcinoma MCF-7, this antibody is rapidly endocytosed and delivered to lysosomes for digestion, as established in radiolabelling and fractionation studies (Aboud-Pirak et al, 1988). An 111lndium-labeled human-engineered form of this antibody has been shown to be a suitable carrier for cytotoxic agents in ovarian carcinoma patients (van Hof et al, 1996). Equally, when conjugated to calicheamicin amide, this antibody can target the antitumor antibiotic into MUC1-positive solid tumors (Hamann et al, 2005).
