Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody recognizes and binds interleukin-6 on the top of the four-helix bundle near the N and C termini. Here the VL domain sterically interferes with the C-terminal domain of IL-6R (residues 195–295). The overlap of the 61H7 epitope and the site I surface concentrates around a cavity occupied by both the HCDR3 loop of 61H7 and the IL-6R molecule. |
Alternative Name | IL6; IFNB2; BSF-2; CDF; Interleukin-6; IL-6; B-cell stimulatory factor 2; CTL differentiation factor; Hybridoma growth factor; Interferon beta-2; IFN-beta-2 |
UniProt | P05231 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizations of Llama glama with recombinant IL-6 followed by construction of phage display library, selection, screeing and purification. |
Application Notes | This antibody is recommended for identification of IL-6 in the sample. The ability of this antibody to compete with biotinylated IL-6 for binding to captured IL-6R was investigated using competitive ELISA. The in-vitro potency of the antibody was determined using a cell-based neutralizing bioassay using the B9 and 7TD1 cell line, which require IL-6 for survival and proliferation and respond to very low concentration of IL-6 (PMID: 27129274). |
