Specificity | This antibody is specific for human IL-6 and does not bind IL-2, IL-7, IL-15, IL-10, IL-21, GM-CSF and TNF-alpha proteins . Interleukin-6 is a multifunctional cytokine which regulates immune responses, hematopoiesis, tissue regeneration, and inflammatory reactions. Dysregulation of IL-6 is known to be involved in the inflammatory pathways of several autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Castleman's syndrome, idiopathic juvenile arthritis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, autoimmune epilepsy and others. |

Application Notes | The original mouse IgG antibody binds human IL-6 with a high affinity and has a dissociation constant (Kd) in the nanomolar range. A combination of 5D5D9 and 5D5H10 can be used in a double antibody sandwich ELISA, where 5D5H10 is used as a capture antibody and 5D5D9 is used as a detection antibody. The sensitivity of IL-6 detection for this pair was reported to be 2.344pg/mL (CN118515763). |
