Key features and details | |
Cat. No. | MABL-1796 |
Name | Anti-Hemin mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- 1D3 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | ELISA, IF, IHC |
Species Reactivity | Human |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | The antibody is specific to metal-substituted protoporphyrin. CDRH2 plays an essential role in recognition. The antibody has the highest affinity for PP[Fe]-PEG and a five-times lower affinity for PP[Pd]- PEG, PP[Zn]-PEG, and PP[Ga]-PEG. |
Alternative Name | Panhematin; Hematin |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised against a hemin-human immunoglobulin in BALB/c mice. |
Application Notes | The affinity of this antibody for hemin has been characterized by ELISA (Uda et al., 1993). The affinity constant of the antibody and individual CDR segments has been examined with fluorescence measurement of protoporphyrin-PEG binding (Hifumi et al., 1999). The mouse IgM version of this antibody (Ab00982-21.0) was used as a primary antibody for immunocytochemistry (IHC) in myelinating cultures after treatment with hemin/FeCl3 (Baldacchino et al., 2022; PMID: 35569511). |
Antibody First Published | Uda et al. Production and immunological characterization for anti hemin monoclonal antibody Chem Lett. 1993;22(11):1923-1926. doi: 10.1246/cl.1993.1923. |
Note on publication | The original publication describes the generation of a monoclonal antibody for hemin and the characterization of its protoporphyrin binding. |
