Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for fumonisin B1. It does not react with other toxins like ochratoxin A, aflatoxin B1 and deoxynivalenol. Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is a mycotoxin produced by the various species of Fusarium fungus specifically, Fusarium verticillioides which commonly infects corn, wheat and other agricultural products. FB1 is neurotoxic, hepatotoxic, and nephrotoxic in animals, and it has been classified as a possible carcinogen to humans. |
Alternative Name | FMB1; FB1; ChEBI:38221; CAS: 116355-83-0 |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with bovine serum albumin conjugated fumonisin B1 (FMB1-BSA). |
Application Notes | This antibody can be used to detect fumonisin B1 in a contaminated sample. This antibody reacts with fumonisin B1 in an ELISA assay. It was reported that the scFv version of this antibody showed 12 fold lower binding activity towards FMB(1)-BSA as compared to the parental whole IgG antibody (PMID: 19597742). |
