The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with CEA positive adenocarcinoma cells preferably from lungs.
Application Notes
This murine antibody reacted with granulocytes, colon mucosa and faintly with pancreatic ducts (PMID: 2410375). The radioactive isotope technetium-99m labelled version of this antibody is also called Besilesomab (trade name Scintimun). It has been studied widely for therapeutic applications. Technetium-99m-Labeled BW 250/183 was used to study the inflamatory process and identification of the inflamatory foci using immunoscintigraphy (PMID: 2157831, 1565572). This antibody is also used for scintiographic imaging of soft tissue infections, peripheral bone, and abdominal infections (PMID: 8023170). Tc-99m-labeled antibody has also been used in the localization of extramedullary hematopoiesis (PMID: 11953571). Rhenium-188-labelled BW250/183 was developed for adjuvant conditioning radioimmunotherapy of bone marrow before bone marrow transplantation. Immunoreactivity of the reduced and rhenium-incorporated antibody was determined by indirect immunofluorescence, by means of a whole blood staining method follwoed by flow ctometric analysis (PMID: 10541824). 90Y‐label is reportedled antibody is reported to be used in the study of expression of CD66b in non‐Hodgkin lymphomas and multiple myeloma usinf flow cytometry (PMID: 20887387).
