Functional Studies, FC, IF
Isotype
Engineer antibody
Species Reactivity
Human
Clone No.
161-2 (53/2)
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody recognizes human CD53. It does not react with the baboon and horse antigen. Cd53 is a member of tetraspanin family and is involved in cellular activation as part of a signal transduction complex involving other membrane glycoproteins.
Alternative Names
Tetraspanin-25; Leukocyte surface antigen CD53; Cell surface glycoprotein CD53; Tspan-25
UniProt
P19397
Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunizng mice with stimulated human leukocytes.
Application Notes
This antibody is recommended for the detection and analysis of CD53 via flow cytometry and immunofluorescence. Additionally, one group utilized this antibody for the ligation of the CD53 antigen while researching the potential involvement of tetraspanins (such as CD53) in tumor metastasis (Yunta et al., 2002). Furthermore, CD53 appears to be the marker with widest reactivity as well as the marker with the strictest specificity to hematopoietic cells, as it is expressed on monocytes and macrophages, dendritic cells, osteoblasts and osteoclasts, and on T and B cells from every stage of differentiation but is absent from platelets, red blood cells.
