Specificity
This antibody recognises the amino-acid sequence corresponding to the 3'-UGA codon region of human CD4 (downstream of the natural UGA (STOP) codon transcribed, if termination at the UGA codon is suppressed). CD4 is a membrane glycoprotein of T lymphocytes that interacts with major histocompatibility complex class II antigenes and is also a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus.

This antibody was raised in mice against RFLPADQMNVADPQPLASCS peptide sequence of human CD4.
Application Notes
8A5 it reacts with the region of the human CD4 gene downstream of the natural UGA (STOP) codon when it is transcribed (UGA as a selenocysteine), and thus this antibody is recommended for studies of the role of selenium metabolism and selenoproteins in diseases, such as infectious diseases and cancer (Ware, 2003).
