Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds human BAFF protein and cross reacts with mouse and cynomolgus monkey BAFF protein. B-cell-activating factor (BAFF/CD257) is a cytokine belonging to the tumour-necrosis factor (TNF) family. This cytokine binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI, TNFRSF17/BCMA, and TNFRSF13C/BAFF-R. BAFF is a survival factor for B cells that controls B-cell maturation. It is also involved in the stimulation of B- and T-cell function and the regulation of humoral immunity.
Alternative Names
BLyS; TNFSF13B; TALL-1; TNFSF20; ZTNF4; Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B; B lymphocyte stimulator; B-cell-activating factor; Dendritic cell-derived TNF-like molecule; TNF and APOL-related leukocyte expressed ligand 1

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with purified His tagged human BAFF protein.
Application Notes
This antibody is capable of inhibiting the Blys signaling pathway by binding to Blys to block its binding to the receptor. The blocking activity of this antibody was reported to be better than Belimumab. In vitro, this antibody inhibited Blys-stimulated B cell proliferation and also inhibited Blys- stimulated mouse splenocyte proliferation. The original IgG1 version of this antibody binds BLyS with a very high binding affinity of Kd= 7.38E-10M. This antibody significantly inhibited human BLYS-induced activation and proliferation of splenic B cells in vivo (CN105061596).
