From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds human BAFF protein and cross reacts with cynomolgus monkey BAFF protein and weakly reacts with mouse BLyS. B-cell-activating factor (BAFF/CD257) is a cytokine belonging to the tumour-necrosis factor (TNF) family. This cytokine binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI, TNFRSF17/BCMA, and TNFRSF13C/BAFF-R. BAFF is a survival factor for B cells that controls B-cell maturation. It is also involved in the stimulation of B- and T-cell function and the regulation of humoral immunity.
Alternative Names
BLyS; TNFSF13B; TALL-1; TNFSF20; ZTNF4; Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B; B lymphocyte stimulator; B-cell-activating factor; Dendritic cell-derived TNF-like molecule; TNF and APOL-related leukocyte expressed ligand 1
UniProt

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with purified His tagged human BAFF protein.
Application Notes
The binding affinity of the IgG version of this antibody for human BLyS-His protein was reported to be Kd= 0.3023 nM. The binding reactivity of this antibody for human, mouse and cynomolgus monkey BLyS protein was done using ELISA. This antibody does not show any cross reactivity with other members of the TNF family. In vitro, this antibody can block the binding between BLyS and its receptor and also inhibits the proliferation of mouse splenocytes stimulated by BLyS (WO2014139425).
