From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds human BAFF protein. B-cell-activating factor (BAFF/CD257) is a cytokine belonging to the tumour-necrosis factor (TNF) family. This cytokine binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI, TNFRSF17/BCMA, and TNFRSF13C/BAFF-R. BAFF is a survival factor for B cells that controls B-cell maturation. It is also involved in the stimulation of B- and T-cell function and the regulation of humoral immunity.
Alternative Names
BLyS; TNFSF13B; TALL-1; TNFSF20; ZTNF4; Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B; B lymphocyte stimulator; B-cell-activating factor; Dendritic cell-derived TNF-like molecule; TNF and APOL-related leukocyte expressed ligand 1
UniProt
Q9Y275
Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with human BAFF protein.
Application Notes
This antibody binds recombinant human BAFF (amino acids A134-L285) with a binding affinity of 0.9 X 10^(-8) M. This antibody does not cross react with APRIL protein. This antibody was also capable of detecting native and recombinant forms of human BAFF protein in a western blot assay (PMID: 16023370).
