From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody is specific for the extracellular domain of human syndecan-1. Syndecan-1 is a cell membrane protein that, after its shedding by heparanase enzymes, is accumulated in the extracellular matrix of some tumours, e.g. myeloma and lung carcinoma, where it modulates several key processes of tumourigenesis such as cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis, angiogenesis and metastasis.
Alternative Names
Syndecan-1; SDC1; SYND1; SDC
UniProt

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing female BALB/c mice with myeloma tumor cells or CD138 protein antigen.
Application Notes
The screening of hybridomas for specific antibodies was done using ELISA. Further confirmation of the specificity for CD138 was done using western blotting. This antibody was also used for immunofluorescent staining and Flow cytometric analysis of CD138 exoression on HepG2, T47D and U266 cells (CN104059151).
