Specificity
The original antibody is specific for cardiotin. Cardiotin is a mitochondrion-associated protein, which is present in cardiomyocytes and skeletal muscle.

The original antibody was generated by immunizing a BALB/c mouse with the 100 kDa cardiotin subunit.
Application Notes
In immunofluorescence assays on cryostat sections of myocardium, the antibody showed the characteristic cardiotin staining pattern in cardiomyocytes. The antibody was reactive with the 60 kDa and the 100 kDa cardiotin subunits of the SR-enriched fraction of swine heart tissue in western blot analysis (Schaart et al., 1997; PMID:v 9042960).
