Specificity
The original antibody recognizes, among others, Cytokeratin 5. Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins and are characterized by a remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in Human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing a BALB/c mouse with a mix of cell preparations containing human cytokeratins.
Application Notes
The antibody was employed for IHC staining of keratin in tumors and normal gland reserve cells (Vos et al., 1993; PMID： 8212457). Further, the antibody could stain the basal cell compartment in human prostate (Verhagen et al., 1992; PMID： 1384957). The antibody stained basal cells of the prostatic epithelium (Verhagen et al. 1988; PMID： 2458583).
