Specificity
This antibody binds soluble form of human ST2 which is a member of the interleukin (IL)-1 receptor family. IL-33 is the ligand for ST2, which is involved in reducing fibrosis and hypertrophy in mechanically strained tissues. In in vitro and in vivo models, ST2L transduces the effects of IL-33, while excess sST2 or abnormalities in ST2 signaling leads to cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis, and ventricular dysfunction. Circulating soluble ST2 concentration is believed to reflect cardiovascular stress and fibrosis. ST2 is a new cardiovascular biomarker for assessing acute heart failure and predicting the outcome of chronic heart failure.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with recombinant human sST2 protein.
Application Notes
HRP labelled version of this antibody was used as a detection antibody in combination with 67186-6 as capture antibody for the development of a double-antibody sandwich ELISA for detection of soluble ST2 in blood samples (CN105259353).
