Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds the human growth/differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) also known as macrophage inhibitory cytokine 1. GDF-15 is a divergent member of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF- β) superfamily. While physiological expression is barely detectable in most somatic tissues in humans, GDF- 15 is abundant in placenta. It regulates food intake, energy expenditure and body weight in response to metabolic and toxin-induced stresses. Highly elevated GDF-15 levels are mostly linked to pathological conditions including inflammation, myocardial ischemia, and notably cancer. GDF-15 is widely explored as a biomarker for disease prognosis.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing 6-week-old healthy New Zealand female white rabbits subcutaneously with human glypican-1.
Application Notes
The binding characterization of this antibody to human glypican-1 was determined using ELISA. The binding of this antibody to human glypican-1 expressed on the surface of human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 was determined using flow cytometry (CN112300283).
