Key features and details | |
Cat. No. | MABL-515 |
Name | Anti-beta tubulin type III mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- 5G8 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | WB, IF, IHC |
Species Reactivity | Rat, Human, Mouse |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for amino acids 436-450 of beta tubulin type III. IT binds to human, mice and rat beta tubulin type III. Its exact epitope is EAQGPK. Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non- exchangeable site on the alpha chain. TUBB3 plays a critical role in proper axon guidance and maintenance. |
Alternative Name | Tubulin beta-3 chain; beta tubulin type III; TUBB3; Tubulin beta-4 chain; Tubulin beta-III |
UniProt | Q13509 |
Immunogen | The mouse version of this antibody was generated by immunizing mice with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of human beta III tubulin. |
Application Notes | The mouse version of this antibody was used for a western blot on purified beta tubulin type III (Spano and Frankfurter, 2010; pmid:20466128). Neuronal cultures of leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 knock-out mice were immunostained using the mouse version of this antibody (Gillardon, 2009; pmid:19545277). To determine selective expression of beta-tubulin isotypes in taxane resistance, immunohistochemistry was preformed on human primary ovarian carcinoma tissues using the mouse version of this antibody (Ohishi et al, 2007; pmid:17343904). While determining the localization of βIII- tubulin in colorectal cancer specimens, the mouse version of this antibody was used for immunohistochemistry on colorectal cancer tissue (Portyanko et al, 2009; pmid:19360438). To investigate the protein antigens targeted by antibody diversity of infected mice with Trypanosoma cruzi, immunoblots were preformed against recombinant TcβTUB (Montalvão et al, 2018; pmid:29706955). |
Antibody First Published | Ohishi et al. Expression of beta-tubulin isotypes in human primary ovarian carcinoma Gynecol Oncol. 2007 Jun;105(3):586-92. PMID:17343904 |
Note on publication | The purpose of this study was to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of beta-tubulin isotypes using clinical samples of ovarian carcinoma treated by taxanes and to examine whether the protein levels of each of the beta-tubulin isotypes were correlated with the clinical features. |
