Basic Information | |
Specificity | The antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat RhoG. The antibody does not cross react with purified RhoA or Cdc42. RhoG (ARGH) is a member of the Ras super-family of small G-proteins and a member of the Rac subfamily of Rho Family of GTPases. RhoG is a small G-protein (GTPase) who is activated by a GEF (guanine nucleotide exchange factor). The GEF displaces GDP from the binding site of RhoG and allows GTP to bind in its place rendering the protein active. This active RhoG binds downstream effector molecules that include ELMO and DOCK180. RhoG then cleaves GTP to GDP making it inactive. |
Alternative Name | Rho-related GTP-binding protein RhoG, Ras homology Growth-related, ARHG |
UniProt | P84095 |
Immunogen | The antibody was raised by immunizing A/J mice with amino acids 161-180 of RhoG protein conjugated to KLH. |
Application Notes | The specificity of this antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The antibody recognized RhoG on Western blots but it did not recognize Rac1 or Cdc42 (Meller et al, 2008; pmid:18505794). Immunofluorescence was performed on MDA-MB-231 cells using this antibody (Yamaki et al, 2010; pmid:20679435). Immunofluorescence was also performed on COS-7 cells (Tzircotis et al, 2011; pmid:21878497). |
Antibody First Published | Meller et al. Endogenous RhoG is dispensable for integrin-mediated cell spreading but contributes to Rac-independent migration. J Cell Sci. 2008 Jun 15;121(Pt 12):1981-9. PMID:18505794 |
Note on publication | The paper describes the generation and characterization of the antibody, which is specific for RhoG. |
