Basic Information | |
Specificity | OX-22 binds specifically to the high molecular weight form of the leucocyte common antigen, CD45RC. OX-22 and OX-31 compete for binding but do not compete with OX-32. The antigen is expresssed on the surface of B cells, around half of bone marrow cells, all CD8+ve T cells, and is able to differentiate between CD4+CD45RChigh (Th1-like) and CD4+CD45RClow (Th2-like) cell types. CD45 extracellular domain is able to interact with a number of different proteins including CD4, TCR, CD2, Thy-1 and CD26.CD45 is important for signalling throguh the T cell receptor and in the selection of T and B lymphocytes. |
Alternative Name | L-CA; Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase C; leukocyte common antigen; T200; CD45; OX22; MRC OX22; MRC OX-22; CD45 R |
UniProt | P04157 |
Immunogen | OX-22 was prepared by immunizing BALB/c mice with phytohemagglutinin-activated rat lymph node cells. |
Application Notes | OX-20 can be used for both FC and IHC (paraffin/frozen) studies. It can also be used to purify proteins by affinty-purification (Woolett et al. Eur J Immunol. 1985 Feb;15(2):168-73). |
Antibody First Published | Spickett et al. MRC OX-22, a monoclonal antibody that labels a new subset of T lymphocytes and reacts with the high molecular weight form of the leukocyte-common antigen. J Exp Med. 1983 Sep 1;158(3):795-810. PMID:6224884 |
Note on publication | Describes the use of OX-22 to analyse CD45RC tissue distribution and antigen characterisation which enable the identification of distinct subsets of T cells. |
