Specificity
This antibody recognized SOD1A4V, SOD1H46R, SOD1G85R, SOD1G93A, and SOD1I112M, but not SOD1WT. Further the antibody did not recognize SOD1 in patients with sporadic ALS or other neurodegenerative diseases.

The original antibody was raised by immunizing a C57Bl/6 mouse with the antigen peptide SOD1G93A.
Application Notes
The original antibody was used for immunohistochemistry on spinal cord sections from patients with FALS. This antibody was used in vivo on transgenic rats with SOD1H46R mutation. The treatment improved phenotypes and extended the lifespan of the rats. This antibody was used for an ELISA on recombinant protein SOD1G93A (Minamiyama et al., 2023; PMID:36874245).

In the original paper using a Borna disease virus vector that is pharmacologically removable and episomally replicable in the recipient cells, we successfully transformed wild-type OPCs to secrete scFv of a novel monoclonal antibody (D3-1), specific for misfolded SOD1.
