Specificity
This antibody binds mouse CD24 also known as Heat Stable Antigen (HSA), Ly-52, or Nectadrin. It is a variably glycosylated GPI-anchored membrane protein expressed on the surface lymphocytes, granulocytes, epithelial cells, thymocytes, monocytes, erythrocytes, and dendritic cells. This protein plays an important role in differentiation of different cell types and its expression varies during lymphocyte differentiation which makes it a good marker for delineating various lymphocyte developmental stages. It is also expressed in erythroleukemia, small cell lung carcinoma and multiple sclerosis.

The original antibody was generated by immunzing DA rats with CBA/Ca mouse bone marrow cells.
Application Notes
This antibody can be used for the study of CD24 expression on cell surfaces using flow cytometry (PMID: 6608694). This antibody binds CD24 expressed on B lymphocytes, neutrophils, red cells, monocytes and cells of the erythroid lineage. This antibody was used in a study to separate hemopoietic progenitor cells from adult mouse marrow and segregate erythroid progenitor cells at distinct stages of differentiation on the basis of their cell surface antigens (PMID: 6337654).
