Cat. No.
MABL-774
Application
Block, FC
Isotype
Engineer antibody
Species Reactivity
Rat
Clone No.
OX-34
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
OX-34 binds specifically to rat CD2. CD2 is type I membrane protein involved in triggering of T- cells (cytoplasmic domain is involved in signaling function) and is expressed on thymocytes, peripheral T cells, dendritic epidermal T cells, macrophages in the spleen, and NK cells.
Alternative Names
LFA-2; LFA2; OX-34 antigen; OX34 antigen; T-cell surface antigen T11/Leu5; T cell surface antigen T11/Leu5; OX34; MRC OX34; MRC OX-34
UniProt
P08921
Immunogen
OX-34 was prepared by immunizing mice with T blasts prepared in mixed lymphocyte reactions with purified rat T helper cells against irradiated spleen.
Application Notes
Ox34 blocks CD48 binding to CD2 causing partial block of T cell activation; OX34 can be used to deplete peripheral T cells (used to prevent allograft rejection in vivo).
Antibody First Published
Arvieux et al. Monoclonal antibodies against a rat leucocyte antigen block antigen-induced T-cell responses via an effect on accessory cells. Immunology 58:337 1986 PMID:2942461
Note on publication
Describes the use of OX-45 in blocking the primary mixed lymphocyte response (MLR)and the secondary response of T lymphocytes to the soluble antigen DNP-BGG. It also showed that OX- 45 did not have any effect on the cytotoxic activity of specific (CTL) or non-specific (NK) killer cells or on proliferative responses stimulated by lectins or oxidative mitogenesis.
